Memorial Stone in Altglandorf and Glan Bridge
In the south-eastern district of Altglandorf stands a modest memorial stone. It commemorates the original village centre, once known as “Glandorf”. The name was first recorded in 979. This settlement is among the oldest parts of St. Veit an der Glan and has retained its village-like character through the centuries.
An 18th-century stone bridge is located not far from the memorial. Its gentle arches span the Glan River. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk – the patron saint of bridges – is positioned on the bridge’s balustrade.
